Respiratory System: 42 y/o woman with shortness of breath and cough.
Clinical Presentation:
A 42 year old African American woman with a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and smoking (1 pack per day for 30 years) presents in the emergency room with shortness of breath and a non-productive cough. She denied fever, weight loss or chest pain. Physical exam revealed localized wheezing and a FEV of 1.2 liters. She did not have a fever. She was treated in the ER with bronchodilators and corticosteroids.
