Endocrine System: 67 y/o woman with a neck mass
Clinical Presentation:
A 67 year old woman presents with a history of a neck mass for the past 4 years. For the past one year she experiences palpitations and her heart feels like itÂ’s "racing". She also noticed that she feels hot all the time, even when other people around her are cold. Physical exam showed an enlarged thyroid with multiple nodules palpable throughout the gland. One of the largest nodules was about 3 cm. Her heart rate was elevated at 110 beats/minute. There was no evidence of lymphadenopathy or other significant findings. Laboratory test showed elevated triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4), and a decreased TSH.
