Introduction:

Recently, members of the World Health Organization and International Society of Urologic Pathology published guidelines for the classification of urothelial neoplasms.

This system was based upon earlier works and classification systems and is meant to serve as a springboard for future studies that will help refine this classification and enabling better correlation of urothelial lesions with their biologic behavior using uniform terminology.

This classification system of urothelial neoplasms has been recently published (American Journal of Surgical Pathology 1998 Dec;22(12):1435-48)

Purpose of this Web site:

To provide representative cases of each urothelial lesion to aid in the introduction of this classification system and promote its uniform usage.

This web-site is divided into two sections. The first is dedicated to papillary urothelial neoplasms and the second is dedicated to flat urothelial neoplasms.
