  Graduate Program in Pathobiology

Courses:

The first two years are spent in coursework designed to equip all students with the firm grounding in the biology of disease, the ways in which disease affects the systems of the body, and the fundamental scientific approaches and tools needed to study a disease process in depth.

Semester 1 Semester 2 Summer 1
*NOTE: Students who have already taken a Medical School or Veterinary School Pathology Course will take Introduction to Pathobiology. All others will take Pathobiology and Disease Mechanisms. Starting at the beginning of the first year, each student experiences a minimum of three three months research rotations with program faculty before selecting a thesis mentor. Under supervision of his/her thesis mentor and committee, a student can select a dissertation topic in a broad range of areas that relate to the pathobiology of diseases. Most students are expected to complete their studies in four to six years.
Semester 1 Semester 2 Summer 2

Following the first year, students pursue full time research in the laboratory of a faculty mentor selected at the end of the first year.
