  Graduate Program in Pathobiology

Additional Instructions for Foreign Applicants:

General: The Pathobiology Graduate Program has funds available for support of students who are not citizens of the United States, and highly qualified foreign students are encouraged to apply. However, foreign applicants should recognize that the application process is very competitive and applicants who cannot come to Baltimore for interviews are distinctly disadvantaged in this process. (The Program does not have funds to pay for overseas applicants to fly to Baltimore.)

English Proficiency: Students whose native language is not English must submit the results of a standardized test of their English proficiency. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is recommended and is administered world-wide by the Educational Testing Service. Otherwise, applicants should consult the American consulate, the United States Information Service, or the United States Education Foundation in India for evaluation of their English proficiency. This requirement must be met before an applicant can be offered admission.

ITEM 2 (of the application) need not be completed by a foreign applicant unless the student had previously obtained a Social Security Number. Student visas can be issued or extended for full-time students only.

Additional Information: On a separate sheet please provide the following data:
  1. Do you have any financial support from your government or an organization in your country? Please detail this support.

  2. List names and addresses of any close relatives in the United States. Will any of these assume financial responsibility during your stay at Hopkins?

  3. Will you be required to perform military service for your country? During what period? Will you be able to arrange postponement of military service if this period conflicts with your proposed period of study (or research) in the United States?
