DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY YOUNG INVESTIGATORS' DAY
- Purpose:
- The goal of this event is to provide a forum for scientific and personal interactions between trainees and faculty in the divisions and laboratories of the Department of Pathology. This event will highlight the high quality and variety of research training and research being performed in our department and will foster a sense of mutual interest and purpose.
- Eligibility:
- All residents, fellows and students in the Department of Pathology are encouraged to submit abstracts and to display their research at the Poster Session. Trainees who have presented or will be presenting their work (in either poster or slide format) at a national meeting are required to participate. The period covered is April, 2008-March, 2009. Data that has already been substantially presented as a previous PYID poster should not be re-submitted.
- Presentations:
- The scope of presentations may include preliminary data to work already presented/published in Clinical Research, Translational Research, and Basic Research. All work will be presented in poster format. Platform Presentations should be prepared and presented as simple poster (i.e. printed copies of slides).
- Posters:
- Total poster size is limited to 4' x 8'. Easels will be available for display purposes. Posters may be set up between 11:00 a.m. and Noon on Tuesday, April 7th. A panel of faculty judges will conduct an open review and discuss posters with presenters between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. Presenters: Please remember to bring tacks, clips, etc. to attach your posters to the boards provided.
- Prize:
- Upon recommendation of the panel of faculty judges, a prize for outstanding scientific contributions in clinical research, translational research, and in basic research will be awarded to the individuals whose posters are judged to be the most outstanding examples of high quality research and excellent presentation. A modest cash prize and certificate will be presented to the winners at the Pathology Annual Awards Dinner on Friday, May 15, 2009.
- Reception:
- A reception to honor our trainees and their mentors will be held on April 7th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 p.m. in the Turner Concourse.
