Dermatopathology
The Dermatopathology Laboratory is a leading center for the study of conditions of the skin, both inflammatory dermatoses and tumors. We are known in particular for our expertise in the study and diagnosis of high risk tumors, including melanoma. We are frequently consulted regarding classification of "atypical moles/dysplastic nevi". We offer a clinicopathologic approach to inflammatory conditions and differential diagnoses are given in clinical language. Because of our extensive experience, processing over 20,000 cases per year, we can provide accurate diagnoses and second opinions as well as sound recommendations for treatment management.

Experience
As a result of the broad training and extensive experience of the faculty of Johns Hopkins Pathology, in-house expert cross-consultation is available for those cases which require a multidisciplinary approach. The training of the Dermatopathology Faculty in both Clinical Dermatology as well as Pathology allows us the opportunity to provide specific, clinically relevant diagnoses and, when requested, treatment recommendations.
