Poster Contest Eligibility:

  • Current employee in good standing
    • Faculty, Residents, Fellows, Managers, Supervisors, Specialists are ineligible, but may serve as mentors
  • Must remain in full time employment for one year after symposium
  • Create a new original electronic poster (not presented elsewhere)
  • Create three multiple choice questions that can be answered by the poster
  • Submit electronically to no later than August 31, 2020.
  • Only one submission per employee for 2020

Topic Categories:

  • Patient and family centered care
  • Quality Assurance
  • Validation (new process/equipment)
  • Changes in workflow
  • Patient Safety
  • Diversity
  • Education
  • Technology

Suggested Poster Format:

  • Dimensions: width 48in x height 36in
  • Minimum Font Size
    • 96 pt font for title
    • 36 pt font for headings
    • 24 pt font for body text
    • 18 pt font for captions
  • Word count: 300-500 words (not including tables, pictures, or captions)
  • Sections:
    • Title (limit to less than 10 words)
    • Author - one author
    • Introduction
    • Body - Provide at least three categories to answer the question/statement
         Example: Methods/Principle/Presentation, Results/Patient Outcome, Discussion/Description of Disease
    • Summary
    • References - at least two references
  • Three questions can be written in word and submitted as a separate file.

Poster Evaluation:

  • The posters will be evaluated by committee
    • Grammar & spelling
    • Meet criteria (word count, sections, etc)
    • Thorough explanation of the topic
    • Attractiveness of poster (layout, design, visuals- pictures, graphs, charts)
    • Quality of questions
    • Originality
  • Top Five posters will be featured in the 2020 Pathology Symposium Online Poster Session
    • The top five will be notified by October 31, 2020.

Poster Contest Winner:

  • One of the top five posters will be determined to be the winner
  • Winner notification will be by November 31, 2020
  • Prize:
    • Attend a 2021 National meeting
    • Reimbursed for:
         - Meeting Registration
         - Travel (must be booked greater than 30 days prior to meeting)
         - Three night hotel stay (capped based on local market value)
    • Featured in the Pathology Symposium blog
  • Pathology Blog - Within 30 days of the meeting, winner will write a Pathology blog about the meeting (must be at least 200 words, encouraged to add pictures from the meeting)
