Shell Ridge Summit walk for Bile Duct Cancer Research

On April 11, 2009, the family of Levan Gray organized a walk to support research on bile duct cancer. The walk was successful beyond all expectations, and raised over twelve thousand dollars for biliary cancer research! A second annual walk is now planned for Saturday, April 2, 2010.

Ultrasensitive Detection of KRAS2 Mutations in Bile and Serum from Patients with Biliary Tract Carcinoma Using LigAmp Technology

In a recent study, Dr. Chanjuan Shi at Hopkins used a novel ultrasensitive genetic technology (LigAmp) to detect mutations in the KRAS2 gene in bile and serum samples of patients with biliary tract cancer. This methodology holds promise for detecting biliary tract carcinoma at its early stages, where it can be cured by surgical resection, unlike the current situation where most patients present with advanced tumors.
