Peter Burger

Dr. Burger, Professor of Pathology, Neurosurgery and Oncology, is the Director of Surgical Neuropathology at Johns Hopkins. He is one of the world's leading authorities on the classification and diagnosis of tumors of the central nervous system. He has over 35 years of experience and more than 350 publications. He has authored five editions of major textbooks on central nervous system tumors. Each year he reviews over 1,500 difficult brain tumor cases sent to him in consultation. He is chairman of the Neuropathology Review Committee of the Children’s Oncology Group, the major national organization devoted to developing new treatments for childhood cancer.


Charles G. Eberhart, M.D., Ph.D.

Charles Eberhart

Dr. Eberhart, Associate Professor of Pathology, Ophthalmology and Oncology, is a highly regarded physician-scientist and neuropathologist neuropathologist involved in both brain tumor diagnosis and medical research. His research group is focused on discovering innovative therapies for brain and eye tumors by seeking to understand how molecular pathways that help the fetal nervous system grow are turned on in cancer. Dr. Eberhart has over 70 publications, most of which focus on the pathology and genetics of childhood brain tumors. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Neuropathology and Experimental Neurology, and of Neuro-Oncology.


Eli E. Bar, Ph.D.

Eli E. Bar

Dr. Bar, Research Associate in Pathology, is an expert in developing new tumor cell lines. He has also played a central role in studies elucidating the role of Hedgehog signaling in medulloblastoma and glioblastoma, and in a recent paper identifying alterations in the BRAF gene in pilocytic astrocytomas.
