Dr. Jacqueline (Jackie) Birkness-Gartman is an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her areas of clinical practice include gastrointestinal and liver pathology.
Dr. Birkness-Gartman was born and raised in Lancaster County, PA. She received her undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Johns Hopkins University in 2011, followed by her MD at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She subsequently returned to Johns Hopkins to complete her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and fellowship in Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology.
Her research interests include esophageal, gastric, and appendiceal pathology. She is also involved in developing online educational resources for patients, pathology trainees, and practicing pathologists.
