The León Troper, M.D. Professorship in Computational Pathology

The León Troper, M.D. Professorship in Computational Pathology was established by Dennis Troper and Susan Wojcicki in 2020 to honor the memory of Dennis’ father who spent his career as a pathologist.

In addition to the Troper Professorship, Dennis Troper and Susan Wojcicki have supported a broad range of impactful science at Hopkins.  

The research they have supported has resulted in over 120 scientific publications, many in top journals, and has generated preliminary data that formed the basis of significant additional funding from the National Institutes of Health.  This research is described in greater detail below.

Dr. Alexander Baras is the inaugural holder of the León Troper, M.D. Professorship in Computational Pathology and the Director of the Division of Computational Pathology and Informatics in the Department of Pathology.

Since 2012, Dennis Troper and Susan Wojcicki have generously funded 38 innovative pancreatic cancer and lung cancer research projects, led by 10 principal investigators in the Johns Hopkins Department of Pathology.
