Our Team Approach

Diagnosing and treating breast cancer is truly a multidisciplinary team effort. The Breast Pathology Service is one integral part of the comprehensive, patient-centered team approach to breast disease at the Johns Hopkins Hospital's Avon Foundation Breast Center.

Our service is founded upon strong collaboration between the hospital's expert pathologists and excellent surgeons, oncologists, radiologists and radiation oncologists. The pathologists consult regularly with the Breast Center's team of surgeons, radiologists, oncologists and other pathology specialists to diagnose benign and neoplastic breast disease, assess its status, and address issues of appropriate care. The multidisciplinary Breast Center group meets each Wednesday at 5pm in the Weinberg Cancer Center to discuss specific patient diagnoses and treatment options.
