Dr. Christopher Shubert is Assistant Professor of Surgery. He is a board-certified general surgeon with specialty training and interests in hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery. He is part of the HPB Program at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Shubert earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed fellowship training in HPB surgical oncology and abdominal organ transplantation at The University of Toronto.

In addition to his clinical experience, Dr. Shubert earned a Master’s of Science in Healthcare Administration. Dr. Shubert’s clinical interests include complex HPB surgery, traditionally unresectable liver lesions and tumors involving the vena cava. Dr. Shubert’s research focus includes hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignancies, their respective treatments, perioperative management and outcomes. Current areas of research interest include novel therapeutics and their integration into surgical treatment of HPB malignancies as well as multidisciplinary perioperative performance models for outcome and value improvement.
