Venkata S. Akshintala, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Johns Hopkins. He specializes in pancreatic cystic neoplasms, pancreatitis, and advanced endoscopic imaging for pancreatic cancer prevention and early detection. His work focuses on multidisciplinary decision-making and integration of endoscopic ultrasound with molecular and imaging biomarkers. As a faculty affiliate of the Malone Center for Engineering in Healthcare, he leads the development of AI-enabled and engineering-driven diagnostic technologies and their translation into clinical care. He leads and participates in multinational clinical studies aimed at improving risk stratification, surveillance, and personalized management of pancreatic disease.
