I am the dedicated professional entrusted with handling your vital blood, urine, and body fluid samples. During your Emergency Department visit, I work behind the scenes to ensure your samples reach the analyzers promptly, helping to reduce your wait time. I prioritize the swift processing of your baby’s samples to provide results that ease your worries and bring you comfort.  I am an essential member of the healthcare team, playing a critical role in your diagnosis and treatment. To us, you are far more than just a specimen—you are the very reason we are here, at the core of everything we do.

I am a Customer Service Representative.

I am the ears and voice of the Core Laboratory, serving as the primary point of contact for the Department of Pathology. I communicate critical test results to your clinician, whether you are in the hospital or back at home, ensuring timely and accurate information reaches those responsible for your care. I also facilitate the transfer of your blood samples to specialized testing labs for genetic analysis and ensure the results are seamlessly integrated into your electronic medical record, supporting your ongoing diagnosis and treatment.

I am a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

I analyze your specimens using advanced, highly sophisticated computerized equipment that rivals the value of many homes. With precision and efficiency, I deliver accurate results to aid in your diagnosis and treatment. I support your family doctor by providing essential health insights, such as your glucose, cholesterol, thyroid, and vitamin levels. From your HbA1c results, I can detect signs of diabetes and consider factors like your diet and exercise habits.

If you experience chest pain, I test for cardiac markers to assess your heart health. For breathing issues, I measure the oxygen levels in your blood, helping your doctor provide appropriate treatment. I monitor your medication levels to ensure they’re just right—neither too little nor too much.

When you take a pregnancy test, I confirm the results and notify your doctor if it’s positive, safeguarding your baby from potential risks like unnecessary x-rays. Throughout your pregnancy, I’ll track your protein levels and assess your baby’s development, including fetal lung maturity through lamellar body counts in amniotic fluid. Once your baby arrives, I’ll carefully monitor their bilirubin levels daily to ensure they remain healthy.
